Sept 13-14, 2013 – The Black Box Improv Tournament returns for its sixth annual assault of gut-busting comedy. Four valiant improv teams will once again emerge to battle it out for your vote. At the end of every match, the audience will decide which team advances and which one gets eliminated. The last team left standing will receive a prime performance slot at the tenth annual Black Box Comedy Festival. This years tournament will also feature two special guest performances and a workshop taught by Mandy Butler.
All shows at GA Tech’s DramaTech Theatre (directions). Proceeds from this event go towards funding the tenth annual Black Box Comedy Festival. More info on teams and special guests is coming soon. In the meantime, you can check out epic battles of yore in the BBIT 2012 Historical Record.

Rufio and Salon du Shogun perform 20 minute sets followed by a 40 minute mixer. Then the audience votes via applause. The team with the most applause gets 5 points.

Peanut Butter & Improv Jam and and 50ft. Vermin perform 20 minute sets followed by a 40 minute mixer. Then the audience votes via applause. The team with the most applause gets 5 points.
SAT 9/14 8PM
All four teams each get 20 minute. Then the audience votes via applause. 1st – 20pts, 2nd – 15pts, 3rd – 10pts, 4th – 5pts. The points will be added to the totals from last night and the top two teams will compete in the finals.
SAT 9/14 10PM
The two special guest and two winning teams each gets 20 minutes. The audience votes via applause. The team with the most applause wins the Tournament.

Jonathan Kleitman, Vincent Migliore, & Cassidy Russell find the absurd and weird and beautiful in everyday experiences. They create worlds, make bizarre things possible, and love the hell out of each other. They play emotionally and find the intrinsic beauty in the connection between characters and between characters and their environments. There’s a lot of snuggling. Rufio has performed at Rogue Comedy Night, the Atlanta Fringe Festival, and at UCB Chelsea in NYC at the Del Close Marathon.

These funny ladies from South Carolina are teaming up for a very special, very funny duo improv show. Mandy Butler has performed and taught improv all over the South. She holds an MFA in theatre Pedagogy and and is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Newberry College. Meg Pierson began her improv career in 2004 with Clemson University’s improv comedy group.
